Recommended Reading
Yes, more real paper-type books. They're good for you.

Advanced Race Car Suspension Development by Steve Smith
A small book with lots of formulas for the hard-core techie.

Race Car Vehicle Dynamics by William and Douglas Milliken
A BIG book with lots of formulas for the extreme techie! 900 pages and enough Greek symbols to make a math-o-phobe go into cardiac arrest, but if you really want to know how cars behave, this is THE book to get.

How To Modify Datsun 510 610 240Z Engines & Chassis by Bill Fisher and Bob Waar
This was THE original book about Datsun performance. Lots of information about the BRE 510's and Bob Sharp's cars. The section on cams was written by Racer Brown himself, who ground most of the cams for Nissan Motorsports. It's the best explanation I have ever read of valve events and how they impact performance. Published by HP Books, it was sold through Nissan as part number 99996-M8010.Now long since out of print, it is a real find at swap meets or on the eBay-type sites.

How To HotRod & Race Your Datsun by Bob Waar
Often confused with the "How To Modify..." book, since one of the authors is the same, this is stripped-down version of the original. While it does have coverage of the L20B engine, it is almost 90 pages shorter. This one was part number 99996-M8011. Still okay in it's own right, but try to find the original if you can.

How To Rebuild Your Nissan/Datsun OHC Engine by Tom Monroe
A very good book for troubleshooting and stock rebuilds. It is nice in that the engines in the pictures are grimy and greasy (like yours may be). It's not about performance, just about the basics of engine rebuilding.Nissan part number 99996-M8013.

How To Modify Your Nissan/Datsun OHC Engine by Frank Honsowetz
Now THIS is the book you want to get if you are interested in building a hot motor. Frank was the Manager of Nissan Motorsports before he moved on to head the Infiniti Indy engine program. Great stuff in this book! Nissan part number 99996-M8012.
